Tickets selling fast for Avenue Q, due to hit Her Majesty's Theatre Melbourne for a strictly limited season this August.

Long-running Broadway musical Avenue Q returns to Melbourne this August, but for a strictly limited season.

For 12 days only, Peter J Snee’s puppet show will play at Her Majesty’s Theatre, taking the audience into a world where puppets (that look like Sesame Streetcharacters) rub shoulders with humans.

Following the life of Princeton, a fresh college graduate who is navigating his way through a multicultural Avenue Q in New York City, you’ll find yourself bopping along to songs such as What Do You Do With a B.A. in English/It Sucks to be Me, Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist and The Internet Is for Porn.

It’s adult life from a puppet’s perspective, with a storyline including sexual congress, failed childhood stardom and plenty of excess drinking.

The witty, unruly and though-provoking musical has won multiple awards, including a Tony Triple Crown for Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book.

Note: despite it starring puppets, it’s certainly not for kids.
